Michael Dell joins ISB board

Michael Dell, Chairman and CEO, Dell Corp, has joined the governing  board of the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad.

Dell is among the world's most influential leaders in information technology.

Over the past 19 years and under his leadership, the company has grown from a  small start-up to the world's number 1 seller of computer systems. With a  global team of 40,000, Dell has become the world's leading authority on direct selling and supply chain management.

"The vision of the Indian School of Business is exciting. I am very happy to  be associated with a world-class management institution that is in the  business of creating tomorrow's industry leaders," Dell said.

Michael Dell joins ISB's governing board, which is chaired by Rajat Gupta, former-managing director of McKinsey & Company and comprises of several illustrious business leaders from the international corporate arena.

Dell has been honoured many times for his visionary leadership, including being named the fourth most respected world leader by the Financial Times in 2003, and the best CEO in the IT hardware industry by Institutional Investor magazine.

In 2001, he was named chief executive of the year by Chief Executive magazine.

ISB will be just one of the many hats that Dell has donned through his career. As author, his book Direct From Dell: Strategies that Revolutionized an Industry, which describes his story of the rise of the company and the strategies, he has refined that apply to all businesses became an international bestseller.

He is also an IT governor of the World Economic Forum, serves on the executive committee of the World Business Council and is a member of the US Business Council. Dell is also the chairman of the Computer Systems Policy Project and serves on the US President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
