Intellectual property law school at Kharagpur

West Bengal will be the location of the country's first school of intellectual property, thanks to the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and Vinod Gupta, founder of the Vinod Gupta School of Management.

Shishir K Dube, director of IIT-KGP and Vinod Gupta, signed the agreement for setting up the school that has been named Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law.

RGSOIPL will receive $1 million donation from Gupta to build the initial infrastructure of the school. The academic programmes will start from the academic year of IIT-KGP, commencing July 2006.

The project, including buildings, classrooms, laboratories, library and moot court would be completed by next year end.

The first two flagship programmes will include 3-Year LLB degree with Hons. in Technology and Intellectual Property Law and the other one-and-half years part time diploma programme in Intellectual Property Law for working executives.
