The ongoing Twenty20 cricketing action of the Indian Premiere League has found more viewers and better television ratings on Set Max than film star Shah Rukh Khan's latest avtaar of a quiz master in Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain? that aired its first three episodes on Star Plus last weekend.

According to the ratings data released by the online media ratings agency Audience Measurement and Analytics Ltd (aMap) for April 25-27, SetMax not only got higher average viewership ratings than Star Plus between 8 pm and 9 pm, when the quiz show aired, but the average time spent on SetMax (40 minutes) was double what viewers spent on Star Plus.

Star Plus managed to get a maximum average viewership ratings of 2.8 on April 25, the day of the first episode of Paanchvi Pass which declined to 1.8 on Sunday.

Set Max on the other hand got a higher average rating of 3.2, 2.6 and 2.9 for IPL during the same 8-9 pm period on April 25, 26 and 27 respectively.

The IPL ratings were taken for the three matches played between Kings XI Punjab versus Mumbai Indians (April 25), Royal Challengers Bangalore versus Rajasthan Royals (April 26) and Mumbai Indians versus Deccan Chargers (April 27) between 8 pm - 11 pm.

Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain? is based on the international show Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader? in which adults are quizzed on school textbook material from Standards 1 to 5.

For Star, the success of Paanchi Pass is crucial in order to narrow the lead with rival Zee TV.

According to industry sources, Star Plus is hoping to rake in Rs 150-160 crore from Paanchvi Paas and has roped in some 10 advertisers.
