Indian companies Reliance and Infosys, both active players in the Chinese market, are among the global industry majors who have partnered with the World Economic Forum to organise the 'China Business Summit 2005' in Beijing.
The two-day summit, which begins in Beijing on Friday, has attracted scores of CEOs of global multinationals, who will discuss the theme, 'China's Next Phase of Modernisation: Creating Scientific and Sustainable Solutions'.
"Co-operation amongst the Asian giants, China and India, will lead to better opportunities for both countries. We truly believe in the word Chindia," the spokesperson said.
Reliance has emerged a big player in China's plastics sector and is exporting predominantly commodity plastics called polypropylene, high density polyethylene, low density poly ethylene as well as polyester fibre intermediate called mono ethylene glycol, company sources said.
Infosys on the other hand, has a market in the IT sector in China and to further its prospects, signed letters of intent last month with Shanghai Zhangjiang (Group) Company Ltd and with the administrative commission of Hanghzhou hi-tech development industry zone-Hangzhou, to set up software development centres in Shanghai and Hangzhou.
The centres, estimated at $65 mn, will be completed in five years and will accommodate 6000 engineers. Both the Indian industry majors told PTI that they see WEF as an opportunity to tap the booming Chinese market.
