Tourists most satisfied with India

Majority of the tourists coming to India have rated their visit as either "most satisfying" or "satisfying", according to an international passenger survey conducted by the Ministry of Tourism.

The survey found that 35.73 per cent of the tourists evaluated their overall visit to India as "most satisfying," Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Ambika Soni the told Rajya Sabha.

As many as 48.94 per cent of the tourists said they were satisfied with their visit to India, while 12.05 per cent rated it as average. Only 3.28 per cent of the tourists said they were disappointed with their visit, Soni said.

In reply to another question, the Minister said 4.43 million tourists visited India in 2006 compared to the 3.92 million that came in 2005 and the 3.36 million in 2004.
