'Young Scientist Award' for IIT prof

Prof Deepankar Choudhury of the department of civil engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai has received the 'Young Scientist Award' of the Indian Science Congress Association for the year 2004-2005.

Choudhury is the only recipient of this Award given in the engineering science section of ISCA, an IIT release said.

The award winner's research interests include earthquake geotechnical engineering, soil-structure Interaction problems, centrifuge modelling of geotechnical structures, numerical and analytical modelling of retaining wall, anchor, shallow and pile foundations, fundamentals of soil behaviour for fine grained soils, DDL theory and swell-shrink behaviour of expansive soil, it said.
