The Dalai Lama to lecture at IIM-A

Buddhist spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, will visit the IIM-A campus in January 2008, to lecture the students on 'Ethics and Business'. The Tibetan leader will be in Ahmedabad as part of a Tibetan festival to be organised in the city. The lecture will be open to all students and faculty members.

As part of its initiative to invite personalities from different walks of life to interact with the students, IIM-A, so far, has invited Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar, chief minister of Bihar and CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury.

This was followed by Senator Edward Murray, a native of Washington state, who delivered a lecture on Public-Private Partnerships in Infrastructure at the campus in May 2007.

The proposal for Murray's talk at IIM-A came about with coordination from the US embassy who were in touch with officials of the Centre for Infrastructure Policy and Regulation at the institute.

Symbiosis joins hands with Savvion India

Symbiosis Centre for Management & Human Resources Development (SCMHRD), has joined hands with global business process management (BPM) leader Savvion to assist in offering BPM courses at its Institute in Pune.

Symbiosis will incorporate a basic and advanced course on BPM in its syllabus where Savvion will provide Symbiosis the course content and relevant educational software licenses to conduct the courses on Savvion Business Manager.

The classes will enable management students to understand BPM and its implications in the business.

The post graduate management courses will include: Business Process Analysis for MBA-I; Business Process Management for MBA-II and Advanced BPM for MBA-II. The first class is scheduled to start in January 2008 and the prospectus will be available at the institute.

I2IT ties up with NDSU

The International Institute of Information and Technology (I2IT) has signed a Memorandum of Association with the North Dakota State University (NDSU), USA, to conduct collaborative research in the area of Nano-technology, Robotics, Biotechnology, Embedded systems, VLSI, telecommunication and Computer Science.

The collaboration will enable students at I2IT Pune, to pursue their final internship at NDSU and after successful completion of the course, students can also pursue their PhD and work at NDSU.

Faculties from both the institutes will carry out joint research work. NDSU is a 117-year-old University and the State University in the North Dakota State.

The University is primarily a research-intensive University with an annual investment of approx US$100-120 million on research. It has 41 doctoral programmes in addition to the existing 55 masters programme and more than 100 undergraduate programmes.
