Under the agreement, signed in the presence of French Ambassador Dominique Girard, the post-graduate double-degree program will be open to select five students in a year from both the management schools at same tuition fees.
The two year double-degree program, starting in September 2006, would require students to fulfil all the criteria of both the institutes to get the degree, besides staying for one full year in each of the two institutes.
"This is the first time an Indian institute has tied up with any European school for providing double-degree at master's level," Bakul H Dholakia, director, IIM-A said after signing the agreement with ESSEC president Pierre Tapie.
The agreement has been inked for three years on an experimental basis, Dholakia said, adding it would provide an opportunity to the students of both IIM-A and ESSEC to learn in a truly multi-cultural environment.
He said the degree from both the reputed business school would also impart skills required for being successful business leaders in the changing global arena.
Tapie said the objective of double degree is to train future managers endowed with a real Indo-European approach.
"The double-degree will enhance the prospects of students as they would have the knowledge and experience of working in each other systems," Girard said.
