Telecom operator Idea Cellular on Saturday announced a reduction in airtime charges on mobile-to-mobile STD calls.
"An Idea subscriber making an outgoing STD call to any other cellular subscriber will be charged an airtime of 50 paise per minute," a company release said.
The Public Switched Telephone Network component of the STD call would, however, remain unchanged at Rs 2.99 per minute.
In addition, subscribers would not be required to pay airtime charge on mobile-to-mobile ISD calls, the release said, adding that the new rates would be applicable from April 20, 2003 for both pre-paid and post-paid customers.
"We believe our initiative to offer competitive STD and ISD airtime will greatly benefit our subscribers and we look forward to come out with similar initiatives in near future," Himanshu Kapania, chief operating officer of Idea Cellular, said.
