"We plan to hire around 5,000-7,000 people this fiscal. We have also declared bonus and increments for our employees," ICICI Bank's managing director and chief executive, Chanda Kochhar, told reporters after inaugurating the 2000th branch of ICICI Bank in Mumbai on Monday.

ICICI Bank has become the first private sector bank to reach this milestone, giving the bank a wide distribution reach in the country, Kochhar said.

The bank plans to add more branches and ATMs in the current fiscal, she said.

Commenting on Bank's Indian origin issue, Kocchar said, "We are an Indian originated Bank, controlled by an Indian management and governed by the Reserve Bank of India. Nothing has changed in our ownership structure in the recent past, so we do not think there are any hitch in our expansion plans," Kochhar said.
