IBM Global Services, the IT services arm of IBM, is eyeing new business areas like business process outsourcing and human capital solutions, a senior company official said in New Delhi.
"In India, our strategy is going to be services-led, primarily. With the rise in BPO call centres business in India, human capital solutions is assuming increasing significance and offers a major area of growth," Asish Kumar, country executive, IBM Global Services, said on Thursday in a seminar.
E-business integration is also another key area for the company, he said, adding strategic outsourcing is the fastest growing segment in the Indian IT market and IBM expects to grow in this space at above industry growth rate.
"Recent deals for strategic outsourcing include Visteon, Fluor Daniels, JPMC," Kumar said and added IBM Global Services has signed during the current year 12-15 large outsourcing deals.
In integrated technology services, Kumar said wireless network, IP based VPN (Virtual Private Network) are the target areas for IBM Global Services.
"IGS is making inroads into technology implementation areas of VoiP (Voice over IP) and LAN," he said.
IGS currently has a workforce of 5000 out of the total IBM India employees of about 7500.
