Cellular operator Hutch on Wednesday launched the Microsoft Outlook service for its subscribers to enable them access corporate e-mails under which a Hutch user will have to pay a monthly fee between Rs 49 to Rs 499 per month depending upon the chosen service.

While the basic service is available to Hutch GPRS users at no extra cost, for the users choosing the ActiveSync facility to download, edit, and send mail in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint formats, a fee of Rs 499 per month will be charged.

The Microsoft Outlook on Hutch service can be activated by setting up an option on the users' corporate mail server and the Hutch users can view the e-mails over SMS for a monthly fee of Rs 49.

The service, a corporate solution jointly developed by Hutch and Microsoft, enables access to corporate e-mails using either SMS or GPRS service, a joint press release said.

Hutch subscribers could read, download, edit and send Microsoft Outlook e-mails with Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint attachments using their Hutch GPRS handsets.

The Microsoft Outlook on Hutch service is accessible even when the user is roaming.

This brings to the mass business market the two great leaps of communication -- business e-mails and mobile telephony. Now for the first time users can manage their e-mails with a range of handsets, not a service reserved for the elite, Asim Ghoss, director, Hutchison Essar, said.

The Outlook on Hutch service allows the corporates to use a single device to communicate and stay connected, Rajiv Kaul, MD, Microsoft India said.
