Guards of a renowned private security agency and some employees of HSBC Bank are being questioned following the mysterious disappearance of Rs 40lakh from the bank two days ago.

Police has detained two guards of Group-4 security agency, a driver and two custodians and are questioning them about the cash reported missing while being ferried to various ATMs in Delhi.

The five were in the vehicle that carried Rs 60lakh cash to be deposited in ATMs, if required, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Ajay Chaudhary told PTI on Wednesday.

Starting at 7am, they visited ATMs located at New Friends Colony, Noida, Patparganj and Preet Vihar and checked the amount of cash there.

After depositing Rs 20lakh at the ATM in Preet Vihar, they went to Khan Market where there they reportedly found a bag containing Rs 40lakh missing.

They have told police that they were not sure whether they had picked up the bag carrying the amount from the bank and if they had taken it, the officer said.
