What can an extra colour do for a printer? A lot, or at least Hewlett-Packard thinks so. The company recently launched the world's first nine-ink photo printer as against the traditional eight-ink printers.

The new addition to the colour palette of Photosmart 8758 is the colour blue and is meant for commercial photographers.  H-P also launched the H-P Photosmart 7838 at the entry-level and H-P Photosmart 8038 at the mid-end.

The blue inkjet cartridge in Photosmart 8758 can bring out the blue hues, especially in the midtones, creating a stunning effect in the photographs. The printer can be seamlessly connected to Adobe Photoshop, thereby allowing application of colour management tools for prints with customised colour effects.

The $ 83.3 billion strong company is hoping to take commercial photo printing to a new high with its product line. The H-P Photosmart 8758 is priced at Rs 27,999 and is available at all H-P retail outlets.
