HP relaunches Pavilion in India

In a major product and pricing rehaul, IT major HP on Tuesday relaunched its Pavilion series of desktop computers in India after a gap of 18 months and announced significant price cuts in all-in-one printers and Presario PCs.

"We are reintroducing Pavilion desktops which was taken off post merger with Compaq to focus on the Presario brand and now that we have consolidated on Presario, we are relaunching Pavilion series at three price-points," P Krishnakumar, country manager, consumer desktops, HP India Sales Pvt said in New Delhi.

The entry level Pavilion desktops -- T 220i is priced at Rs 42,990 while mid-range T 230i is at Rs 59,990 and T 250i will be sold at Rs 59,990, he said.

HP has also scaled down the price range of Presario to Rs 29,990 - Rs 49,990 from the earlier entry price of Rs 30,990 with the existing high-end model staying at the old price of Rs 1,29,990, Krishnakumar said.

In the Presario models also there are three price points -- Rs 29,990, Rs 37,990 and Rs 49,990.

Both the models are targeted towards the home users.

The company today also effected across the board price cut in its all-in-one printers for the home segment under which PSC 1210 would now cost Rs 5,999 instead of Rs 7,999 while OJ 5110 would be priced at Rs 8999 from earlier Rs 11,999 and PSC 2110 costing Rs 10,999, down from Rs 13,999.

Similarly, PSC 2210 would cost now Rs 13,999 instead of Rs 18,999. However, there was no change in the price for enterprise level all-in-one printers.

All-in-one printers offer printing, scanning and copying facilities.

HP also announced a retail expansion plan under which Presario Home PCs will be sold through 700 outlets across metro cities, class I and II towns while HP Pavilion Home PCs will be available in 30 cities in India through 125 Premium retail stores, Ravi Aggarwal, director, consumer business, HP India said.

The company also is planning to set up 1000 retail stores by the year-end.

HP also elaborated its digital-imaging services initiative in the country.
