Facing a production loss due to strike at its Gurgaon plant, Hero Honda on Wednesday said the workers' action would not impact sales in the long term.

"The strike (by contract workers) at the Gurgaon plant will not have any long term impact on sales and we are confident of making up for the production loss once the deadlock ends," a senior company official told PTI.

He said the current loss in production will not have any immediate impact as the dealers were well stocked up, while the company was having normal production at its other plant at Dharuhera.

"Also, we have a significant quantity of products in transit to the dealerships," he added. The estimated daily production at the Gurgaon plant is around 6,000 units per day, though there was no official confirmation on the same.

Meanwhile, talks are continuing between the striking contract employees, management, the company's contractors and local administration to bring an end to the deadlock.

Thousands of contract workers at the company are on a strike since Monday, demanding regularisation of services, higher pay and other benefits.
