Hiring activities improved in April on the back of better prospects primarily in telecom, banking and financial services sectors, says a report.
Job portal Naukri.com on Tuesday said recruitment activities increased in April with its monthly job index rising to 1,368.
The index, which provides a snapshot of hiring trends online, stood at 1,304 in March.
"The first month of the financial quarter starts on a positive note with the hiring activity index at 1,368, five per cent higher in April 2013 compared to March 2013," Naukri.com said in a statement.
Last month, telecom sector registered a growth of 15 per cent in hiring activities while it was 10
per cent for banking and financial services segment.
"After three consecutive months of fall in the insurance sector, the job index is showing highest growth with 27 per cent as compared to March 2013," the statement said.
Info Edge India's CEO and MD Hitesh Oberoi said the first month of the current financial year (2013-14) has started on a good note. "Hiring seems to be picking up across sectors but it is too early to say whether this trend will sustain," he added.

In terms of cities, Delhi and Kolkata witnessed the highest growth of 15 per cent and 11 per cent, respectively, in April.
