October 31, 2007 15:28 IST
IT firm Hexaware Technologies has opened its second development centre in Saltillo, Mexico, and plans to hire about 1,000 employees from the South American country in the next three years.

Hexaware launched its operations in Saltillo with the acquisition of FocusFrame in 2006. FocusFrame is a specialized testing services firm and has over 100 employees located at the centre.

Besides Mexico, Hexaware also has global delivery centres in Mumbai, Chennai, Pune and Delhi in the country and Bad Homburg in Germany.

"Our earlier experience with an established centre in Mexico has given us the confidence to expand our operations in Saltillo...with beneficial factors like proximity to and same time zone as North America, we believe that the Saltillo centre will give us the ability to serve the US and Canada markets with greater efficiency," Hexaware's founder and chairman Atul Nishar said in a statement.

The Saltillo centre will provide software development, application and maintenance work. The facility is provided with modern infrastructure to support large and key projects at Hexaware.

Barin Kulkarni has been appointed as head of the new centre, the statement said.
