HC clears way for HBO's return

November 15, 2006 20:33 IST

Popular English movie channel HBO is all set to return to Mumbai homes, as the Bombay high court accepted the channel's undertaking to air only U and U/A rated movies.

On August 21, the Mumbai Police yanked as many as nine satellite movie channels off air following a high court directive. While the remaining channels have since been allowed to screen U/A certified movies, HBO and Star Movies have still not been given the green signal, according to a report in Indiantelevision.com.

The cable operators in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra, will now be able to feature HBO on their networks

HBO India country manager Shruti Bajpai said, that it is the first premier English movie channel to screen films as per the recent high court order, said Indiantelevision.com.

HBO like the other English movie channels Zee Studio, Sony Pix and Star Movies is working closely with the Censor Board for certification of the films featured on the channel.
