May 12, 2006 15:41 IST
A leading furniture retail outlet in Bahrain plans to send its staff to India to build a school every year as part of its community service programme.

The founder and CEO of The One Thomas Lundgren says he was planning to shut down two of his 11 stores located in Jordan, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE and Sweden for two weeks next year to send his staff for community service in India.

"The idea is that every year we would go and build a school," Lundgren was quoted as saying in the Gulf Daily News.

In addition to build a school, he plans
assist in setting up micro businesses for parents and those in the community to help the school sustain itself.
