Spurred by the growing call centre market in India, Danish communications solutions major G N Netcom has firmed up plans to set up two sales and marketing offices in the country by the end of this year.

"We will set up two sales and marketing offices in Delhi and Bangalore by the end of 2004 to service our partners, customers and also undertake business development, Peter Borup Jakobsen, MD (Asia business unit), G N Netcom, told PTI in New Delhi.

He said by setting up offices in the country, it would also be able to serve its United States and United Kingdom customers, who have set up their call centres here, in a much better way. British Telecom and Convergys are some of the customers who have Indian call centres.

The company has sales office in 15 countries. In India it has 40 customers.

In an attempt to move its production out of China, he said G N Netcom is also looking at the possibilities of manufacturing some of its products in India and at present, it is studying opportunities in Indonesia and Thailand.

"The cost benefits China offers today in manufacturing may not last long, we have look for alternate production facilities which offer same cost benefits and a secure environment, he said adding the company was looking at India, Indonesia and Thailand for the purpose.

G N Netcom, which has a marketshare of 30 per cent in wireless headsets in India, is currently focusing only on the call centre market. It has a distribution agreement with Tata Telecom and Innova Telecom.
