GM's Tavera Elite @ Rs 5.93 lakh

General Motors India on Tuesday introduced a new version of its multi-utility vehicle Chevrolet Tavera, the Elite range even as the company prepares to rev up capacity at its Halol plant to meet rising demands.

"To keep pace with the ever growing demand for Taveras and other Chevy cars, we are further ramping up production capacity at our Halol facility to 80,000 units," P Balendran, vice president- corporate affairs, General Motors India said.

Coming at a price of Rs 5.93 lakh (ex-Showroom Delhi) onwards, the Elite range has new features such as MP3 music system and remote keyless entry along with new body graphics and full size wheel covers.

Targeting corporate customers and fleet operators, GMI has also made its 7-seater option on Tavera L1 (LT) and B2 (LS) variants available on the Tavera B1 as well as the Tavera Elite B3 (LS).

Also on the anvil are several other initiatives like the industry first GM Service Plus offering 24/7 workshop facility and a 'Free after 3 service', to make owning a GM vehicle an even more pleasurable experience, he added.

GMI has so far sold 11,943 units of Tavera between January and August 2005 taking the total Tavera tally to 20,360 units.
