The company has also announced the launch of a 24 hour pre-sale and post sale 24x7 call centre service, which the company claims to be a first of its kind in the country.
"With this expansion, the total investment by GMI in India will be Rs 1,380 crore (Rs 13.8 billion). We are running at full capacity on a two-shift basis. The expanded plant will be operational by February next year and with a two-shift production, we will be able to churn out 55,000 to 60,000 units per annum," the company's spokesperson said.
The outsourced call centre will be available 24-hours a day. It will handle both pre-sale and post sale demands of customers.
"Our customers can have their car picked for service at any time during the day. The call centre will also provide details of the products and services we have to offer in India," he said.
The call centre has been outsourced from Solutions Integrated Marketing Services out of its Okhla facility. The call centre service will be available on a single Reliance Infocom number across the country and will be billed as a local call.
