GM cuts car prices by Rs 24,800-Rs 43,000

General Motors India on Wednesday reduced its car prices by Rs 24,800-Rs 43,000 following the eight per cent cut in excise duty in the 2003-04 Budget.

Prices of all variants of mid-size car 'Opel Corsa', station wagon 'Opel Corsa Swing' and mid-size sedan 'Opel Astra' have been reduced with immediate effect, a company statement said.

While the base model 'Corsa 1.4 GL' price has been cut by Rs 24,864 to Rs 525,056; that of the 'Corsa 1.4 GLS' model has been lowered by Rs 27,440 to Rs 566,272.

Prices of 'Corsa 1.6 GSI' and 'Corsa 1.6 Royale' have been slashed by Rs 30,016 and Rs 30,470 to Rs 608,048 and Rs 6,72,442 respectively.

In the case of '1.4 Swing' and '1.6 Swing', there has been a Rs 32,480 and Rs 33,376 reduction to Rs 597,296 and Rs 614,208 respectively.

The 'Astra Gli PT' price is down Rs 36,848 to Rs 803,600 and that of the 'Astra Club PT' by Rs 40,656 to Rs 883,792.

Prices of other variants like 'Astra Club TD' and 'Astra GSI TD' have been brought down by Rs 43,008 and Rs 36,288 to Rs 935,088 and Rs 792,288 respectively.
