Powered by its sedan 'Fiesta', Ford India expects around 100 per cent jump in sales this year and said it will launch a CNG driven Ikon by September this year.
The company, which launched the Fiesta in November last year, has already exceeded the total sales figure of 2005, by June this year.
"We sold around 25,000 units last year and this year, we have crossed this number by June itself. We feel that going by this rate, we will end 2006 with a near 100 per cent growth in year-on-year sales," Arvind Mathew, Ford India president and MD said.
The company said average monthly sales of the 'Fiesta' were around 2,500-3,000 units. Ford on Wednesday introduced a new version of its model 'Fusion' and slashed its price by around Rs 60,000 to Rs 5.69 lakh, (ex-showroon Delhi).
The company, which has 115 dealerships in 79 cities, sells models like 'Ikon', 'Fiesta', luxury sedan 'Mondeo' and SUV 'Endeavour' in the Indian market. Company vice-president (marketing, sales and service) Scott McCormack said Ford would launch a CNG version of the 'Ikon' by September this year.
The company has a capacity of about 1,00,000 units at its plant in Tamil Nadu and also exports car kits to markets like China, South Africa and South America.
