Ford's 'in-Xs' model, designed by Chabbria, revolves around the key pillars of Fiesta and could be customised as per customers' demand, V Sivaramakrishnan, Ford India vice president (marketing, sales and services) said at the Auto Expo in New Delhi.
"In 2006, we will assess our distribution channels and customers' needs. The company plans to focus on three models in the mid-size segment namely Fiesta, Ikon and Fusion," he said.
The company does not intend to introduce any model this year in the Indian market but could do so in the next year.
"As per company's policy, either we introduce a new model in a year or refurbish the existing models. This year we are working on three existing models... Next year we may introduce a model in India but it would be the group's decision as to which model is to be introduced," he said.
As many as 6,500 orders for Fiesta are lying with the company since its launch in India in mid-November 2005. Ford India plans to match up the demand by mid-February this year, Sivaramakrishnan said.
"About 2,300 (of the booked) cars have been delivered and the rest would be delivered by February this year," he said adding from the second week of February the company would be able to deliver Fiesta on the spot.
