Finance Minister P Chidambaram has invited French companies to expand their activities in India, particularly in the infrastructure sector.
Addressing a gathering of French CEOs, Chidambaram said growth rates in India were indicative of the healthy fundamentals of the Indian economy and French investment in the country would be beneficial for both the countries.
The French companies, which were present at the function include Aeroports de Paris, Alstom, BNP Paribas, Societe Generale, ING Group, Renault, PSA Peugeot, LVMH, Hermes, L'Oreal, Accor Hotels, Saint Gobain among others.
The finance minister is on two-day visit to France on the invitation of the French Finance Minister Thierry Breton.
During the meeting, the the two discussed subjects of mutual interests, including interest rates, global imbalances, WTO and multilateral issues as well as petroleum prices.
