Fiat to resume production in Mumbai plant by Jan

November 10, 2005 17:32 IST
Fiat India on Thursday said it would resume production at its plant at Kurla, Mumbai after suffering heavy damages during the monsoon floods.

"The Mumbai floods had severely affected our manufacturing operations in Kurla. We have, however, managed to clean the plant thoroughly and are gearing up for production in January 2006," Giovanni de Filippis, Fiat India newly-appointed managing director said.

The plant will restart manufacturing of Fiat Palio, Petra and Adventure.

Filippis said during the interim period the company's depots outside Mumbai across various regions in India would handle the demand of cars that have been booked.
