The Delhi Development Authority has cancelled the lease agreement of land allotted to Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre due to violations of the terms of the allotment.

The announcement was made by S Jaipal Reddy, urban development minister, in the Lok Sabha on Friday.

"Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre had violated the terms of allotment of free beds to the extent of 25 per cent, and illegally merging with a Chandigarh-based society with the same name, which is not a non-profit
making charitable society, and later on converting itself into a private limited company," Reddy said.
