March 09, 2006 13:14 IST

Ashish Bakshi,Country Head, BenQ, spoke to Priyanka Joshi about his technology habit

What's in your pocket?

BenQ P30, which I describe as an evolution of a cellphone to a smart PC phone. I zeroed upon the phone as it's very handy and quite compatible with my needs.

First crush?

The sleek version of a computer - a laptop. I dote on the BenQ Joybook 7000. It personifies style at par with excellence in functions. The beauty is designed for people with impeccable taste, the Joybook 7000 is the world's leading 14-inch wide-screen notebook with an incredible high 1280X768 resolution.

Latest squeeze?

As my job involves to be on move, I wanted to carry one device that would offer dual services of a telephone and facilitate data services like email, web browsing and also store my innumerable contacts. I found all of the above mentioned in my BenQ P30 as it helps me to be connected 24x7. My BenQ P30 smartphone enables me to go global via features like email, web surfing, voice and data processes. It runs on a sophisticated mobile operating system, allowing a whole lot of functions onto a single device.

What makes you mad?

My patent answer is technology, technology and more technology. With influx of variety of gadgets and gizmos, all eyes are glued upon devices that come with cutting edge technology, making one's life simpler by connecting them across the globe. To cite an example, the media centre was the latest that got my adrenalin rushing.

What would you most love to see?

Convergence of technology. Whether it is a camera, TV, cellphone or e-commerce, having them on one device would make life actually worth living.

Your biggest tech disaster?

The biggest tech-disaster I have encountered is a hard disk crash. The loss of data is simply irreplaceable.

If money was no object?

I am a technology enthusiast and would not mind spending a little extra as long as the gadget is worth its salt. I love the concept of home entertainment and can splurge money on it without any hesitation.

PC or MAC?

It is definitely MAC without any second thoughts..

Linux or Windows?

It would depend on the platform that is widely used and is compatible with people.

Google or not?

With Google, one is confident of a reliable answer. I have tremendous faith in the slew of results popped up by Google. For me, Google indeed is a friend for life.

How wrong have you been?

As wrong as my previously-owned technology. I tend to upgrade my gadgets just as one technology or product replaces the previous one.
