Emirates to add 18 more flights to India

June 12, 2008 18:52 IST

Gulf-based air-carrier, Emirates Airline, plans to launch 18 additional flights-a-week in the next four months between three major Indian destinations and Dubai, a top company official said.

The three destinations are New Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

"We see a strong demand and a good market. We will be launching 18 additional flights per week starting from July 1 and extending up to October," Emirates Airline's, vice president (India and Nepal), Orhan Abbas, told reportersĀ in Dubai on Thursday.

Abbas said that the air-carrier was scaling up its operations in India as there was a healthy demand.

"We see a good demand and growth. The pie is huge but nobody has cut into it," he said.

Of the 18 proposed flights, four additional weekly flights will be launched from Delhi from July 2 while seven will operate from Bangalore.

With the launch of these 18 additional flights, the airline would have 132 flights every week to-and-fro India, the highest by any international carrier from India.
