Emerson plans to double capacity

Emerson Network Power (formerly Tata Liebert), part of the $16 billion Emerson Group, plans to increase its manpower strength by about 50 per cent to around 500 and double its UPS, precision ACs and DC power equipment manufacturing capacity to 800 units per month by 2008.

"The telecom and IT industry is growing very fast, the capacity and manpower increase maybe complete earlier than in the next three years. We are witnessing unprecedented growth, the current annual growth rate is 30 per cent and we are looking at growing further," said S S Bapat, senior vice president, uptime solutions, ENP.

The other industry verticals that are driving its growth are pharma and industrial power.

Though he declined to reveal any investments to be made, Bapat confirmed that ENP has set its sights on adding eight to ten product families to its current number of 11, in the same three-year time frame.

In India Emerson is spread across 13 locations and has a 50 business partner community; these partners provide sales, service and support and also act as value-added system integrators.

Out of its total headcount of 29,700 employees worldwide, ENP employs nearly 15,000 of them in the Asia-Pacific region.

The range of product solutions that it markets include UPS, precision ACs, switchgears, DC power equipment, fire and alarm systems, site power audits, electrical testing, generators.

On the service solutions side, it offers installation and start-up, warranty service, predictive and preventive maintenance, full service contracts and professional service programs.
