Saudi to issue multiple-entry visas for foreign businessmen

September 19, 2007 16:47 IST

Saudi Arabia has decided to issue multiple-entry visas valid for one year to foreign businessmen.

The decision was taken at the weekly meeting of the Cabinet on Tuesday.

The visas will be granted by the Saudi embassies abroad and immigration authorities at the country's airports, without the applicant producing an invitation or recommendation letter from a Saudi company or the chamber of commerce and

industry.

The multiple-entry visa eases the entry of foreign businessmen in to the country. All businessmen coming to Saudi Arabia currently have to obtain an invitation letter from a Saudi company.

The multiple-entry visa would be useful for frequent travellers as it can be used instead of a series of single entry, passport-page-sized non-removable stickers that can eat through the pages of a frequent visitor's passport.
