Indians dominate managerial positions in private sector establishments in Dubai, holding more than 40 per cent of the posts, a new study has said.

The study conducted by Dubai municipality noted that Indians form the bulk of the Asian population there and held 46.23 per cent of the managerial positions, a media report said.

The study, released last week, said UAE nationals hold 11.58 per cent of such posts in Dubai while 14.32 per cent were held by Arab expatriates.

Pakistanis were 8.32 per cent strong in this category while there were 1.48 per cent Iranian managers and 1.28 per cent Bangladeshi managers. European managers were 9.95 per cent, the Gulf News quoted the study as saying.

It said that the average monthly salary of a private sector manager was 12,444 Dirhams (Rs 1,52,818) while the average lowest salary for a worker was 894 Dirhams (10,978).

The municipality study said the percentage of UAE nationals working in private sector was 2.4 per cent while non-nationals were 97.6 per cent. Eighty nine per cent of the workers were men.

The study was based on the economic survey of 2003 of private sector and the family income and expenditure survey 1997-98.
