February 15, 2005 11:26 IST
India became the third largest market for UAE carrier Emirates' holiday packages for the just-concluded Dubai Shopping Festival, after Saudi Arabia and Iran.

The highest sales generated by this year's packages were from Mumbai, followed by Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kochi, the airline said in a release.

Jyrki Nilson, business development manager, Emirates' Holidays said the high level of demand for the packages from India "gives us clear indication that India will continue to be our focus area for the shopping festival in 2006".

The special shopping festival packages ranged between Rs 21,000 and Rs 81,000, including airfare, three nights' accommodation, room tax and service charges.

The month-long event included the world's biggest gold raffle, richest luxury car raffle and a month-long festivities.
