A detailed assessment and internal inspection of the Dabhol power plant equipment by concerned parties including NTPC, GE India and Bechtel is necessary to ascertain the time frame for restarting it, Rajya Sabha was informed on Wednesday.
Along with IDBI, Maharashtra State Electricity Board and the Central Electricity Authority, these companies have found plant and equipments generally well maintained during a preliminary inspection but a more detailed assessment is felt necessary to ascertain time frame for restarting the plant and the likely expenditure involved, Minister of State for Power Jayawanti Mehta said in a written reply.
She said any scheme finalised for revival of the Dabhol project would come as a comprehensive package and would have to resolve complex legal, financial and technical issues, the minister said, adding: "This may take time."
