Earlier, News Corp chairman Rupert Murdoch had come calling to India.
The visit to India is part of their Asian tour. Eisner starts his visit from Delhi next week, according to Indiantelevison.com.
Accompanied by Robert A Iger, who will take over as Disney's new CEO from 30 September 2005, the visit is significant as Disney aims to capture a wider share of the kids' entertainment space in India.
Eisner is expected to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, information and broadcasting minister Jaipal Reddy and other top officials from the government and the industry.
In Mumbai, the entertainment capital of India, Eisner is scheduled to meet the CEOs and senior executives of media companies.
Walt Disney is also likely to host a party, which will be attended by representatives of Star India, Sony Entertainment Television, Zee Telefilms, The India Today Group and The Times of India Group.
The visit is likely to give Eisner a clear perspective of the Disney's operations in India. It would also help the company firm up its India initiatives.
Disney had launched two 24-hour channels, Toon Disney and Disney Channel on December 17 2004. The channels aimed at kid empowerment and creative learning with interactive programmes have spiced up the entertainment space in India.
Walt Disney plans to consolidate its position further in India before diversifying into other segments of the media and entertainment segments.
The company also plans to set up a Disney theme park in India, which is likely to come up in Delhi. Disney has already planned a $3.5 billion Disneyland project in Hong Kong in a joint venture with the Hong Kong government, which is expected to open by 2006.
