Dell to hire more for new India centre

Computer major Dell on Wednesday announced the opening of its third customer contact centre in the country with 300 employees, at Chandigarh, to support its growing global customer base.

Operations in the 180,000-square-feet centre are expected to begin in March 2005 with approximately 300 employees.

The contact centre houses a global product group focused on development and testing for Dell's enterprise product line; a global software development centre staffed with Dell IT professionals to execute IT projects for Dell applications; and a sales and service operation supporting customers throughout the world, a media release said.

Dell has such centres in Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Dell will begin recruiting efforts immediately, and will hire technical support and customer relations agents, as well a managers, over the next few months. New employees will receive intensive information technology and customer relations skills training.
