Fly Jammu-Delhi @ Rs 1,499!

February 22, 2005 18:27 IST

Air Deccan will begin daily flights between Jammu and the national capital from Wednesday with an inaugural one-way fare of Rs 1,499 till March 8.

Aiming at capturing the pilgrim tourism market at Vaishnodevi, the no-frill carrier said its fares at the later stage would be based on the dynamics of the market.

Air Deccan already has a helicopter base at Katra, from where close to 400 pilgrims are flown to the temple each day.

"We see a huge potential due to the traffic that exists between Delhi and Jammu and our aggressive pricing structure," airline CEO Capt G R Gopinath said in a statement.

He said an evening flight could also be introduced if there was adequate demand.

The statement claimed Air Deccan has so far sold 65,000 tickets at the rate of Rs 500 plus taxes.
