Tata Sky, Humax ink set-top deal

Tata Sky Ltd, a 20:80 joint venture between the Tata group and Star, has announced its partnership with Humax for procuring set-top boxes in India for the mid-2006 launch of its direct-to-home platform.

However, the company declined to divulge details of the financial arrangement involved and the number of boxes that would be procured from Humax.

According to a release stating the development, besides manufacturing the set-top boxes, the Korean manufacturer would also provide after-sales service and support network for DTH customers.

Vikram Kaushik, chief executive officer, Tata Sky, said, "We are committed to building a state-of-the-art DTH operation in India and offer customers with the best satellite TV services. Our agreement with Humax takes us a step closer to our goal."
