While accepting that physical strength of Department of Company Affairs has not kept pace with growth in number of companies, the government on Tuesday said it does not plan to either restructure DCA's regulatory functions or accord it more independence.
"The Naresh Chandra Committee has observed that the physical strength of the Department has not kept pace with the increased strength of companies in India," Finance Minister Jaswant Singh told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.
Replying to Nilotpal Basu's question in whether government was contemplating any restructuring of the regulatory functions of DCA alongwith investing a greater degree of independence to it, the minister said "no proposal is under consideration at present."
