Dabur India on Wednesday said it was in talks with three firms to acquire their brands, while also acquiring a brand from its sister concern Dabur Pharma and introducing more products this fiscal.

The Nigerian subsidiary of the company would also begin production this month, Dabur India CEO Sunil Duggal said.

"We had floated Africa Consumercare in Nigeria through Dabur International. The Nigeria plant will start production this month," he said after announcing the company's quarterly earnings.

Dabur International has 90 per cent stake in the African company while a local partner holds the rest, he said. The African subsidiary would make personal care products like toothpaste and soaps which would cater to the Nigerian market, he said, adding that the company might also export the products to neighbouring countries like Ghana.

Dabur India is also acquiring 'Honitus' from its sister concern Dabur Pharma for a consideration of Rs 4.5 crore (Rs 45 million), Duggal said, adding that the acquisition would be completed by April 1, 2005.

"We have held preliminary talks with three domestic companies to acquire their brands," he said declining to give details. For the domestic market, the company will launch four new products during the current fiscal.

While it will introduce one product each in the hair care and skin care segments, Dabur will also launch a white toothpaste and a Hajmola variant soon.
