No plan to sell Dabhol plant: Govt

Government told the Rajya Sabha on Monday there was no proposal to sell the Dabhol power plant.

"There is no such proposal with the government for sale of Dabhol Power Plant at Ratnagiri," Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said in a written reply.

Widows: There were about 342.90 lakh widowed women aged above 10 in the country and 23.43 lakh divorced or separated women as per the 2001 census, Women and Child Development Minister Renuka Chowdhury said.

Sachar Committee report: The report of the Prime Minister's high-level Committee on social, economic and educational status of the Muslim community, under the chairmanship of Justice Rajinder Sachar, is being examined, Minority Affairs Minister A R Antulay said.

The report was tabled in Parliament on November 30.

Foreign Education Providers:

The government has not permitted foreign education providers to set up campuses in the country for imparting higher education, HRD Minister Arjun Singh said.

Azad: As on date, the Maulana Azad Education Foundation has a corpus fund of Rs 100 crore (Rs 1 billion), Antulay said.

Food Processing: The level of procesing of fruits and vegetables in the country is estimated at 1.4 per cent in the organised sector and 0.8 per cent in the unorganised sector, Food Processing Industries Minister Subodh Kant Sahai said.

Gender Budget Cells: As many as 50 ministries/departments have reported setting up of cells for Gender Budgets, Choudhury said.
