Management consultants in the capital can now work from their homes without any fear of their premises being sealed.

The Urban Development Ministry has decided to include the management consultants in the list of professionals allowed to operate from residential areas, in a move that will benefit thousands of such professionals.

"The UDM has given the approval for the amendment in the Master Plan to include management consultants in the small office-home office (SOHO) category," DDA Director (Master Plan), PV Mahashabdey, told PTI.

"Now the DDA will be issuing public notice inviting the objections and suggestions under Section 11 A of the Delhi Development Act, 1957 on the proposed change. We will give a minimum of 30 days time for submission of objections or suggestions from the public on the issue. Then a final decision will be taken to incorporate the proposal in the Master Plan 2021," Mahashabdey said.

This is the second time that the exempt category has been expanded. While preparing the final shape to the MPD 2021, the ministry expanded the SOHO list by including engineers, IT professionals, company secretaries, town planners, cost accountants and media professionals.

Management consultants seeking relaxation of the ban failed to make to the SOHO list under the new Master Plan notified by the UD Ministry in February last year. The management consultants have been defined as those having management degrees or diplomas from a recognised universities or institutions like the IIMs or the AICTE- recognised private institutions.

The decision of the UDM will benefit thousands of professionals, mostly self-employed who can now operate from their residences without attracting action like sealing of their premises.
