Coca-Cola on Tuesday forayed into the cold coffee and iced tea business and extended its tie-up with McDonald's to sell the cold beverages under the brand name Georgia.

Coke would put Georgia vending machines in McDonald's outlets to sell both cold coffee and iced tea, Coca Cola India president and CEO Sanjiv Gupta told a news conference in New Delhi.

The move follows Coke's decision to sell tea and coffee through McDonald's outlets since 2002 to expand the carbonated soft drink market.

The hot beverage sales doubled in just one year since Coke installed Georgia vending machines in 2002, he said.

With Coke extending its partnership with McDonald's, the soft drink giant has also made available its recently launched Vanilla Coke in McDonald's restaurants.

Coke's iced tea and coffee will be available in all McDonald's outlets in nine cities.

Apart from selling hot beverages at McDonald's outlets, Coke has also been selling tea and coffee by putting vending machines at a number of shops.

Asked whether Coke would replicate the same model for selling cold beverages too, Gupta said: "We have many options, including glass bottles."
