Coal minersA special Central Bureau of Investigation court on Monday fixed September 26 for hearing arguments on framing of charges in a coal blocks allocation case involving Rajya Sabha member of Parliament Vijay Darda, his son and others.

The court posted the matter for September 26 after the CBI informed that it was likely to file a supplementary final report in the case by September 22.

"Special public prosecutor R S Cheema states that supplementary final report is likely to be filed by September 22.

“So arguments on framing of charges may be started after that.

“Accordingly, put up for consideration on charges on September 26," Special CBI Judge Bharat Parashar, who is exclusively dealing with coal blocks allocation cases, said.

Meanwhile, the court dismissed an application filed by the accused seeking documents relating to their statements alleged to have been recorded by the investigating officer during the course of investigation.

The special court was hearing the case in which CBI had named in its charge sheet Vijay Darda, his son Devendra Darda, Manoj Jayaswal, director of Nagpur-based AMR Iron and Steel Pvt Ltd, and the firm as accused for the offences under sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) read with 420 (cheating) of the IPC and under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The court had earlier granted bail to the three accused after they had appeared before it in pursuance to the summons issued against them.

Vijay Darda, Devendra, Jayaswal and the firm were named as accused in the charge sheet filed by CBI on March 27 in which it had alleged that they had fraudulently acquired the coal blocks.
