M&A honours for Citigroup, E&Y

Citigroup has been rated number one in terms of volume and market share in mergers and acquisitions consultancy in the first six months of this year. Ernst & Young has bagged the top slot with the highest number of M&A deals.

According to a Bloomberg M&A lLeague study, Citigroup has the largest market share of 27.06 per cent with a volume of $1,260.72 million. But it had just eight deals in its kitty.

E&Y had bagged 14 deals in the first six months with a volume of $867.77 million and a market share of 18.62 per cent.

Merill Lynch, Enam Financial Consultants, Goldman Sachs have bagged the third, fourth and fifth positions in terms of market share, respectively.

Merill Lynch has a market share of 19.43 per cent with a volume of $705.29 million and five deals. Enam Financial Consultants has a 14.29 per cent share with a $658.17 million volume and eight deals.

Goldman Sachs, with a volume of $522.92 and three deals, has a market share of 12.30 per cent.

ING Group, Kotak Mahindra Capital, Deloitte Haskins Sells, Ambit Corporate Finance and JP Morgan also figure in the list.

ING Group has a market share of 7.63 per cent, Kotak Mahindra Capital at 5.91 per cent and Deloitte Haskins Sells at 3.55 per cent.

However, they had bagged just one deal each in the first six months.

ICICI Securities, Mape Advisory Group, Nomura Securities, KPMG Corp Finance and Deutsche Bank AG had bagged to two-three deals but have a less than one per cent market share.
