The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, a UK-based accountancy body, has announced a strategic alliance with Dun and Bradstreet Information Services India whereby the latter will conduct courses relating to CIMA's Certificate in Business Accounting.
CIMA's director-education, Robert Jelly, told Business Standard that "Our focus is on Indian MNCs. There are many companies where the IT and BPO employees want to foray into accountancy. CIMA will help them do so."
CIMA's other interests in India include opening offices in six major cities and liasoning with B-schools and tuition providers. Jelly insists the CIMA qualification is more than just management and accounting.
"The CBA course is designed to develop fundamental skills and techniques for employees and provides modules ranging from business economics and financial accounting to ethics, corporate governance and business law. We are not competing with Indian CAs," he says.
