Government has initiated an anti-dumping investigation against imports of Titanium Dioxide from China.

Directorate General of Anti-dumping and Allied Duties, under the Commerce Ministry, has initiated the investigation on the basis of a petition filed by the Titanium Dioxide Manufacturers Association.

Titanium Dioxide is a white pigment and has a very high degree of whiteness. Its tinting strength and hiding power are superior to any other pigment.

The DGAD in its initiation notification said that there was sufficient prima-facie evidence that the normal value of the subject goods in the subject countries were significantly higher than the price at which it had been exported to India indicating that the subject goods were being dumped into the country.

The period of investigation for the purpose is January to December 2002.
