The Institute for Career Studies, which provides career counselling at residential schools in the country, has tied up with schools in Dubai and Muscat to provide several career-oriented programmes to students and teachers there.

The institute is providing services like career counselling for students, leadership and team building programmes for teachers, planning and designing school projects, human resources management, curriculum design and workshops to three schools in Dubai and one in Muscat.

"Students need to make informed choices about their careers in order to have a successful professional life. We are pleased to be able to offer services and extend our reach abroad," Amrita Dass, the founder director of ICS, said.

The ICS' initiative has been welcomed by these schools.

"The workshop by ICS has been an educative and informative programme for us. The professional team from the institute worked at helping our students understand their potential. We are looking at ways to deepen and widen our relationship with the institute," Darryl Bloud, principal of Modern High School, Dubai, said.

The organisation claims that its workshops help students recognise their aptitudes, learning styles and interest areas. Typically, its counselling sessions include workshops that drive the concept of 'multiple intelligence' and help students identify their strengths. The sessions address common misconceptions and bring to the table emerging trends and options available to students of divergent streams.

"At our workshops in Oman and the UAE, we saw an enthusiastic response from parents and teachers. It was encouraging to see them recognise the fact that career counselling at the right time was of paramount importance to help shape an individual's future," Dass said.

ICS has been providing career counselling for the past 18 years and currently works with 150 schools in India.
